Dental Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with patients to make them comfortable in the dental chair and to prepare them for treatments and procedures. Sterilize dental instruments. Prepare work area for patient treatment by setting out instruments and materials.

Salary:

Median pay (annual):34,500 USD (2012).

Median pay (hourly):16.69 USD (2012).

Education:

Dental assistants receive their formal education through academic programs at community colleges, vocational schools, technical institutes, universities or dental schools.

Demand for this Profession:

Postsecondary non-degree award.
